I Don’t Know Where This Goes…

There’s a strange kind of comfort in uncertainty when it doesn’t demand answers.

That’s exactly what we are, something undefined, something that flows, yet never quite arrives. We’re not in a relationship, but we’re also far from just friends. No label fits, no box contains what we share. And maybe that’s what makes it so confusing… and so captivating.

There’s no anniversary to celebrate. No promises exchanged. No declarations of love that come with hearts and hashtags. And yet, there’s something about the way we just exist around each other, like we understand what even silence is trying to say.

I don’t call you mine, but I get that ache when you pull away.

You don’t owe me anything, but your absence feels like a void I can’t explain.

We don’t talk every day, but when we do, it feels like time pauses. Conversations become safe spaces. Eyes hold stories that words don’t dare to speak. And sometimes, even in a crowded room, it feels like we are the only two who get it whatever it is.

You know me in ways I haven’t let anyone know me. You notice the little things: the shift in my voice when something’s off, the way I smile when I’m trying to hide something. And I read you too your pauses, your silence, the weight in your “I’m fine.” We navigate each other’s moods like we’ve done this for lifetimes.

But where is this heading?

That’s the question that quietly lives in the corner of our connection. It doesn’t scream, it doesn’t push. It just sits there. Waiting.

I’ve thought about it what if this is just temporary? What if one of us eventually meets someone “more certain,” someone who fits the checklist better, someone easier to define? Will this fade into a memory, or stay as that one “almost” we never truly got over?

But then again, maybe not everything broken is meant to be fixed. Maybe not everything beautiful needs a name. Maybe some connections are meant to be felt, not explained.

And so here we are, whatever this is.

A little raw, a little real, a little reckless.

A little too much to be casual, a little too uncertain to be serious.

Somewhere between what we feel and what we fear.

I don’t know where this goes… but I’m not ready to let it go either.

And maybe, just maybe, that’s enough for now…..
