It’s strange how someone’s absence can fill up so much space in your mind.
He’s gone for just a few days, a trip, he said. A journey to find peace, purpose, maybe even himself. And here I am, trying to find mine in the silence he left behind.
The network is poor where he’s gone, and so are my excuses for checking my phone every few minutes, hoping for a message, a “miss you,” or even a simple “take care.” But the screen stays blank, and somehow, that blankness screams louder than words ever could.
I keep wondering… will he remember the last promise we made before he left — our café plan, that tiny dream we built over late-night talks and shared smiles?
What if he comes back and decides he wants something different, or worse, someone different?
What if his silence isn’t just because of weak signals, but because he’s slowly drifting away, finding a new rhythm without me in it?
These thoughts haunt me, and I try to brush them off as just insecurity, but sometimes they feel too real. What if it was all just my dream? What if I’ve been living in my own little delusion, believing that the connection I felt was mutual?
I keep replaying our last moment together in my head. Maybe I should’ve said it.. the words I’ve been holding back for so long. Maybe I should’ve told him what he truly means to me before he left. Because now, every unspoken word weighs heavier than my heart can carry.
Distance is supposed to make the heart grow fonder, but right now, it just makes me scared, scared that the bond I’m holding onto so tightly might be slipping away, thread by thread.
And yet… a small part of me still believes — believes that when he returns, everything will fall back into place. That the silence will break, the promises will still stand, and maybe, just maybe, he’ll say the words I’ve been too afraid to say.
Until then, I’ll wait.. not just for his message, but for the calm that I hope his presence brings back with him.
